Mr Nigel Hall

 

Nigel Hall has an impressive academic background having won a scholarship to Oxford University and subsequently gaining a doctorate for research into hereditary bowel cancer. He has worked as a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon in Cambridge since 1999 and has a wide-ranging interest in colorectal diseases. He is experienced in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, which is suitable for much abdominal surgery including cancers and hernias. He is an accredited colonoscopist in the national Bowel Cancer Screening Programme and has carried out many thousand examinations. He has a broad expertise in complex anal problems such as fistulas and fissures as well as haemorrhoids and pilonidal sinuses.

He was the lead for the Colorectal Cancer Multidisciplinary Team at Addenbrooke’s for many years and also was Lead Clinician for the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme at Addenbrooke's. He is involved in surgeon training, participating in several courses on a regular basis. He was involved in the implementation of the eHospital computerised medical records system at Addenbrooke’s which went live in October 2014 and this has revolutionised the way of working in the hospital.
